The museum's exhibition galleries tell the story of New Zealand's
maritime history in a logical progression. The whole story of New
Zealanders and the sea is covered, from Polynesian voyaging to fishing,
coastal shipping and the seaside 'bach' (or holiday home). The Edmiston
